Game Over... For Real!

Not since Donnie Darko in June 2003 have I watched a film three times in three consecutive nights. Japanese cinema gave me Battle Royale, and as with independent films in the West, I am grateful to be spared the simpleton tripe of mainstream Hollywood.

In fact, not since Donnie Darko have I been so obsessed about a film. I first saw Battle Royale in May 2004 on Channel 4, the night before my last day of school (see Nanahara's narration during the bus scene). Unfortunately, I missed the first 30 minutes and only saw the whole thing when the download finished last Wednesday after 5 days.

I figured out the 'moral' of the story during Psychology on Friday morning, though I'll let anyone who decides to watch it come to the conclusion on their own. Anyway, it's seemingly traditional to post quiz results:

I agree with the above, though I'd say I also have elements of Mimura and Sugimura (Do you hold crushes on people for a long time and never tell them 'til the last minute when it's too late?) .

This post has no structure since I'm running on obsession, so here's which girls from the film I consider cute: Girl #2: Yukie Utsumi, Girl #17: Satomi Noda, and Keiko (the former two end up killing each other, which I should point out is not why I like them - I don't know if such a paraphilia exists).

I wish American pish didn't dominate cinema here and I wish Channel 4 would bring Film Four's diversity to terrestrial TV. So I'll watch Akira sometime today whilst Ringu continues to download.
