The post rate here and elsewhere is down. In the early days it's probably true the deluge of posts each consisted of 500 words or less. Occasionally I would post some grand interpretation or theory, until gradually great 2000 word essays felt expected. Writing multiple 100 word entries, even if it is a legitimate non-twitter-esque post, feels like cheating . I've tried Twitter and found 140 characters only suited to celebrities talking about a cloud they saw an hour ago, or more interestingly (links to) breaking news.
I increasingly feel the keyboard is becoming a bottleneck in my communication and I've thought about speech-to-text, though I'd really like to see subvocal recognition available. I read about an alternative to Twitter, so as I type this I'm trying out tumblr. I picked a short draft that's been lingering on this blog for months and decided to clean it up and publish it on tumblr. But now that I've properly concentrated on the draft, it's a multi paragraph piece that suits the intellectual aura I'd like to feel I'm communicating on this blog.
Which brings me to the big problem I feel exists on this blog. Posting under a pseudonym went to my head initially; and like Piro, I put stuff out there that I might like back now. As I see it, the only thing keeping me from drumming up a wider-readership is the personal stuff. I rarely remove posts and would prefer not to expunge a chunk of the blog (not that it would make a difference with archives and caches), but that looks like the path to a more "professional" look.
